The Tesseract
A four-dimensional cube, built in light.
Abstract. A hypercube can't exist in three dimensions, but its shadow can. This is a physical build of that shadow: a cube inside a cube, joined corner to corner by eight struts. Every edge is an aluminium channel with an LED strip inside, held together by 3D-printed joints.

Construction
Project a hypercube into three dimensions with perspective and you get two nested cubes. The far cell shrinks into the inner cube, the near cell grows into the outer one, and eight struts connect them.
Each edge is a length of aluminium channel. The corners are 3D-printed joints: black on the outer cube, white on the inner one.

An LED strip runs inside every channel, so the cubes and struts can each be lit their own colour.

Patterns
Every edge is individually addressable. Try the patterns it runs.
The real patterns live in the firmware on GitHub.
